RAPE - AN INVASION

Rape is an invasion in the regime of Women’s sovereignty, i.e. as an individual and as a community. Though, there are strong laws that provide preferential status to women, but still such laws failed to restrict violence against women whether domestic or workplaces or on streets even though women are so vocal and active towards their rights and privileges. These stringent laws instead of curtailing crimes against women has proliferated more social crisis such as Broken marriage, Gender Disparity, Gender Conflict, Proliferation of Gay fabric, Hate crimes, sexual abuse at Workplace, etc.

Rapes are social, political and institutional crime to suppress the micro regime to plunder them without accountability. The tool of Violence is to terrorize them, which is common in all over the World and it became a Global Political Economy, which is part of Organised Crime through the Democratic system towards sexual slavery and forced labour with minimal survival means and avoidance of Human Rights and values.

Rape cases in India have doubled between 1990 and 2008 is an indicator that Liberalisation and Globalisation have ample impact on the Crimes against Women. It is important to understand, why human trafficking of women and children towards sexual slavery and forced labour became the prime concern of UNODC in the wake of Globalisation. The relevance of Domestic Violence in the Periphery nations and Rapes in Core nations are beyond its control in the era of Globalisation.

Human Trafficking whether intra-state migration or Inter-state or Inter-regional migration has great influence towards the destitution of women who are compelled to surrender in the hand of Pimps and Touts to prevent from the Violence, i.e. gang rapes or acid throw or domestic violence.

The Role of State is very important to the victims of Crime to which State do not take responsibility. In tune of this, it is important to identify the parameter of State accountability to its Citizen and protection towards Crime, which is not visible at present.

The role of Criminal Justice System and policing to curtail crimes and the relevance of the Social Administration system should also be co-related. Finally, it is important to understand whether mere making stringent Laws can check crime or it needs appropriate strategies and policies to protect women from the political, social, economical and criminal abuses.
